Originally a youth band, the Band today comprises musicians of all ages, ranging from enthusiastic amateurs to graduate standard players. New members are always welcome.

Established in 1897, we are a really friendly 4th Section traditional brass band, with a new dynamic musical director and conductor. We play all around the county and beyond, with 3 or 4 concerts per year, a contest or two and some fun bandstand work. We welcome players of all standards - we'd love some new players!

Open to all instruments, ages and abilities, Alveley Village Band is famous for being the largest family-oriented community band in the country, bringing together grans and grandads, mums and dads, great gran and grandads, neighbours, children, teenagers anyone else who wants to take part. Based at Inkberrow Village Hall, Sands Lane Inkberrow, Worcestershire WR7 4DZ, We are a friendly 3rd Section Brass Band first formed in 1977 and still going strong today. Founded in 1969, the orchestra originally rehearsed in the Birmingham General Hospital and latterly met in the University of Birmingham's Medical School. Since 2021 however our new home is in south west Birmingham. We enjoy a broad range of Classical, Romantic and 20th Century programmes, but we're particularly blessed to have the direction of conductor/arranger Lee Armstrong. A friendly group, giving up to three concerts a year and despite the orchestra's medical origin, welcome players from all walks of life!

The Birchfield String Orchestra consists of a small group of players who meet weekly in Sutton Coldfield to play together for pleasure without the pressure of concerts. The orchestra owns a library of over 150 works from the baroque to the present day, covering a wide range of composers, forms and styles. Anyone with a basic standard of Grade V on violin, viola, cello or double bass is welcome to join.

The Birmingham Basement Band is an 18 piece swing band that comprises of people from all walks of life linked by their love of big band music and playing music together. Concert Band established over 40 years ago and comprises semi pro and amateur musicians age range immaterial but minimum grade 5 standard, playing all types of music and performing to raise money for local charitable organisations. Vacancies exist in all departments but in particular, percussion, bass instruments, and middle range brass and wind. Also limited numbers of flutes and clarinets required.

BGSO was formed in 2008 and has firmly established itself on the Birmingham LGBTQIA+ and music scenes. We welcome orchestral players from all backgrounds and our repertoire consists of anything from classical symphonies to hits from Abba and songs from the musicals. Players should be approx. Grade 6 (or equivalent) and above. We currently have vacancies in all sections, particularly the upper strings. We are a very welcoming and appreciative ensemble. We are a new, up and coming Big Band in Tipton who play Big Band music from all eras but particularly enjoy more modern Big Band Music. We are looking a couple of trumpets to complete our line up. We are also looking for a reliable jazz pianist and guitarist! As a rough guide we are looking for grade 7/8 standard players. We are a progressive and friendly band established in 1998 and based near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. We have seen a huge development over the last couple of years, and currently have about 55 players. We play a wide range of music and perform in various venues throughout the year such as bandstands, village fêtes, charity fund-raising events, and also more formal indoor concerts. We are always on the lookout for new players of any ability and instrument, particularly in the brass section.

The Bournville Clarinet Choir is a community music ensemble meeting on a fortnightly basis at a local venue. Players from further afield are also welcome to attend. The project is intended to create a friendly environment while bringing clarinetists together who aspire to a high level of performance, technical knowledge and ensemble playing. The music will cover a wide range of styles and genres as well as new arrangements and compositions customised to suit the abilities of the ensemble. Players should be of a grade 8 or equivalent standard and above.

Bridgnorth Sinfonia is a small orchestra with a growing reputation in the area which meets roughly once a month, on Sunday afternoons in St John's Parish Hall. We aim to add to the cultural life of our town and enjoy an enthusiastic following for our varied program of concerts and events. Please contact us if you would like to join. Currently we are looking for double bass players but all enquiries are welcome.

We are a friendly band made up of a variety of ages and abilities. Our repertoire consists of show tunes, popular songs, old Dixieland Jazz numbers and many more. We play concerts and gigs around the region at fêtes, local bandstands and at the social club. There are no auditions we just need committed players with plenty of enthusiasm and at least grade 3 standard. Any wind or brass instruments are welcome however we are especially keen to hear from middle and bass instruments. You are very welcome to come along for an informal visit on any Monday rehearsal.

Bromsgrove Amateur Strings is a very friendly training orchestra, formed to give adults and children the opportunity to explore the string orchestra repertoire and enjoy playing together. The standard ranges from approx Grade 3-8, and no audition is necessary. We perform from time to time, and past and present repertoire includes Handel Concerto Grossi, Corelli Christmas Concerto, Warlock Capriol Suite, Dag Wiren Serenade, Pleyel, Duo (arrangement) as well as various Scottish Reels and other folk music.

Bromyard Wind Band is made up from players from a very wide area around the town of Bromyard in Herefordshire, England. Although 'Wind Band' is in our title, we are a full Symphonic Concert Band / Ensemble. The main ethos is to encourage players of varying abilities to meet in regular rehearsal, for public performances, and in so doing help raise money for charity.

A friendly wind band, we perform in a wide variety of settings. We have recently played at The Royal Show, local beer festivals, and local churches. We be celebrated 15 years in September 2008, and looking forward to planning a return visit to Italy in 2009.

We run Symphonic Wind Band Weekends for adult musicians with grade 6/7 standard (or equivalent) and above, currently with locations at Culford School in Suffolk and Ellesmere College in Shropshire. The rehearsals take place over two days, culminating in an informal concert and are designed to bring together like-minded musicians to explore some challenging music from the Wind Band Repertoire.

We are a community band and we are always welcoming new members. If you play trombone, euphonium or French horn we are particularly keen to hear from you. Players are usually over 18 and whilst we don't have any audition requirements, Grade 4 or above is usually a guide to the minimum standard required. However we are happy for anyone to attend and we are sure you will enjoy it! We do many concerts throughout the community each year and hope that members are committed to both these performances and our regular rehearsals. Members pay a small subscription which goes towards rehearsal venue hire, new music and teas/coffees. We welcome prospective members to attend a rehearsal just to see what it is like.

Playing the big symphonic repertoire mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, Chandos gives three concerts per year in Malvern, under professional conductor Michael Lloyd and professional leader Kathryn Rutland. The orchestra also runs two workshops per year open to all comers. Numbering around 90 players from all over the West Midlands region and around the UK, the orchestra holds an annual young musician competition in January whose winner may be invited to play a concerto.

The Cheltenham “Phil” is an amateur orchestra established in 1895. It performs 4 concerts a year at the Pittville Pump Room and Town Hall in Cheltenham. We are a friendly, welcoming orchestra and enquiries from new players are always welcome. Details of concerts, rehearsals and player vacancies are found on the website.

The orchestra gives 7-8 concerts a year in Cheltenham and surrounding towns. There are potentially places for good string players.

We welcome all players especially younger members who we try to pair up with more experienced players. Our repertoire is varied from film to symphony, from concerto to choral suite. We have worked with several other local groups to put on joint concerts.

We are a string orchestra suitable for adults of all levels, from intermediate level e.g. who used to play at school and who want to start playing again, to advanced standard. We play a few concerts a year around the Cotswolds, and our repertoire includes bits of folk and jazz as well as traditional composers from Baroque and Classical eras. We also enjoy arrangements of show tunes and film themes.

The band gives 4-5 concerts a year, mainly in and around Cheltenham. There are potentially places for woodwind or brass players of above Grade 5 standard, especially horns and lower brass.

We are a small, friendly ensemble, the local part of a national organisation which is dedicated to workshopping and performing newly-composed music. CoMA was founded in 1993 with the aim of enabling musicians of all abilities to participate actively in contemporary music.

RAF Cosford Voluntary Band is a warm, friendly wind band for all wind instruments at any standard. We also run a Corps of Drums for budding percussionist. We are open to any serving members of the Armed Forces and local civilians. Full training and uniforms will be given should you consider joining. We perform at local events at at formal military dinner nights and represent the Royal Air Force on more formal parades. A friendly Orchestra centred around Cirencester in the beautiful Cotswolds. Players are good standard amateurs but we are lucky enough to have a few professionals among us. We learn from them and it helps to keep our performance standards high. Repertoire is mainly classical and increasingly ambitious. We perform two concerts a year, usually preceded by about 8 rehearsals. This makes us very popular with musicians who want to play with a full orchestra but don't want the commitment of a weekly rehearsal throughout the year. Specialises in big unusual rep not seen in weekly groups. This year includes 29 works including Shostakovich, Lutoslawski, Vasks, Strauss, d'Indy, Prokofiev, Shchedrin, Myaskovsky, Vaughan Williams and more.

We are an eclectic group of people, playing an eclectic selection of music on an eclectic range of instruments! Our current members range from those early in their musical appreciation to those with music degrees; all are equally welcome. There are no auditions and parts vary enough to suit a variety of abilities, although sight reading to at least the equivalent of Grade 3 is desirable. We aim to give at least once concert per term, usually to raise money for charitable causes. Members (except students) give £10 per month in subs. Regular attendance is encouraged for the sake of progress towards performance standards.

The Elgar School Concert Band welcomes all wind/brass/percussion players Grade 4 and above. The Elgar School of Music is located beside Huntingdon Hall in the centre of Worcester. We opened for lessons in 1983 and ever since have welcomed students of all ages and abilities for both individual and group tuition. We aim to provide the very best in musical education, whether as an academic pursuit or purely for relaxation and enjoyment.

Enigma Brass Ensemble are a 10 piece brass ensemble based in the West Midlands and play in the format made popular by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and subsequently London Brass consisting of 4 Trumpets, 1 French horn, 4 Trombones and 1 Tuba. We are always keen to hear from players of at least grade 8 standard with good sight reading capabilities as vacancies arise from time to time for players to assist with rehearsals and concerts. We play a wide and varied repertoire tailored to suit whatever engagements we have planned.

Forest Little BIG Band is a Youth Big Band for musicians aged 11 - 22 from the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley area.

We are a friendly, volunteer military wind band based in Coventry and currently have vacancies across all wind instruments . We are proud to continue the traditions of The Royal Warwickshire Regiment and The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers across the West Midlands and perform at local events as well as formal military dinner nights. Harmonie is a Solihull wind band with a long and successful history of providing the opportunity for players to rehearse and perform concerts. We have no age restrictions or entry requirements - everyone is welcome. We take part in several concerts each year and often with local schools involvement. The band also commissions works and engages top professionals to conduct workshops to improve playing skills.

We play mainly light music. We welcome new string players in particular; players should be prepared to attend weekly rehearsals. We play three or four concerts in each year.

The Heart of England Recorder Orchestra is a group of enthusiastic and experienced recorder players of all ages, from all over the country, meeting in Coventry. We play all kinds of music – renaissance, baroque, classical and modern, original recorder music and arrangements, on all sizes of recorder – sopranino, descant, treble, tenor, bass, great bass and contrabass.

HSO was founded in 1958. It became established as an independent orchestra, and today it is the only regular adult orchestra in Herefordshire. Initially founded as a string group, it quickly developed a pattern of concerts including wind, brass, percussion players and choral groups. In 2020 the orchestra changed its name to Hereford Symphony Orchestra to reflect this and usually gives 3 concerts a year. The orchestra always welcomes new string players and there are no auditions. Founded in 1977 by Andrew Mogrelia the Leamington Chamber Orchestra is a high quality amateur orchestra performing in Leamington Spa. The orchestra has a varied repertoire and is particularly keen to promote and perform lesser known pieces, and 20th Century works including commissions.

Leamington Sinfonia is one of Warwickshire's most accomplished and socially active orchestras. We enjoy ambitious programmes, projects with local choral and ballet groups, workshops, and many fun events such as International tours, bike-rides and pub-crawls. We are currently looking for additional string players - especially violin, viola and double bass - and a new trombone player.

The Band performs up to 10 concerts a year, varying from outdoor concerts performed in bandstands, to more formal concerts, many arranged by the Band and performed at the Guildhall. Lichfield Sinfonia is a small well established amateur orchestra. Players are a friendly bunch, of all ages, who share a love of making music. We play two main concerts, in May and December, with a lighter summer offering. Repertoire is mainly romantic, and concerts usually involve a professional soloist. We are a community wind band which performs at a wide range of outdoor and indoor concerts in and around Ludlow, Shropshire. Founded in 2009, plays wide range of concert band music to a high standard. Mixed ability of amateur musicians, new members welcome, there are no formal auditions.

The Ludlow Orchestra has approximately 50 players. It was founded in 1970 has gradually grown in size and in the expectations of its ever-increasing audience.

The Midland Chamber Orchestra carries on the great tradition of classical orchestral playing for amateurs. Our members include teachers, young professionals & conservatoire alumni, as well as amateurs over the age of 16. We perform in 3-4 concerts throughout the year.

Midland Concert Orchestra is not your average light orchestra;  it’s actually a jazz band with a big string section and woodwinds.  Formed in 1982 by Les Pursey, a former professional musician and teacher, we specialise in playing songs from the golden era of song writing – (1930s – 70s) – so our repertoire includes standards, film themes, and songs from the shows.  We have close on 300 original arrangements in our book, providing jazz and swing in the style of the John Wilson orchestra.

The New Streetly Youth Orchestra aims to further the musical education of young musicians of all ages and abilities, improving confidence through regular rehearsal and performance. The orchestra is privileged to receive regular guidance and support from a team of talented tutors, many of whom have studied music and renowned establishments including the Birmingham Conservatoire. All tutors give up their time and energy for free to help lead rehearsals. Although a youth orchestra players of any age who are willing to support the young players are welcome.

Our conductor is period instrumentalist and renowned Viola da Gamba player, David Hatcher. We play mostly 17th and 18th music - increasingly with baroque bows on gut strings.

Fun and Friendly Community Orchestra that welcomes musicians of any age and ability to come together and make music. There are no auditions required and every new member gets 4 consecutives weeks Free with no obligation to join after. We put on 2 main concerts each year along with multiple smaller performing opportunities.

We are a friendly community orchestra made up of amateur players from around the county. Concerts are arranged at local venues and the orchestra rehearses between September and May. Rehearsals take place weekly on Saturdays, from 10.00 to 12.00 midday. There are no formal auditions, but there is an informal assessment period of up to four weeks for you and us to decide if membership is appropriate.

The NSSO is one of the oldest orchestras in the world, founded in 1904 by the 25 year old John Cope and his mentor Madame Marie Reymond. The orchestra's first concert was held in the Old Town Hall in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The orchestra still thrives today playing four major symphony concerts each year, performing in venues in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, with renowned conductors and guest soloists and supported by The Friends of the NSSO. We are a small newly formed orchestra meeting at Longtown School during term time. Longtown is at the northern edge of the Breton Beacons, equi-distant between Hay on Wye, Hereford, and Abergavenny. We accept players at any stage of their musical journey, and aim to 'scaffold’ less experienced players with those more experienced. Currently with small numbers we play baroque and arrangements, but plan to be playing classical orchestral repertoire.

This is a high quality chamber orchestra based at the Church of St John the Baptist in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Players are selected by 'invitation only' with an emphasis on local players from Bromsgrove and Worcestershire. Encouragement for young players will be one of the main aims together with a choral event involving local singers. There are three concerts a year with a MusicFest based at the church in July and a chamber concert series throughout the year under the umbrella of 'The Orchestra of St John presents...'

A community orchestra founded in 2012 for musicians playing to a Grade 7+ standard, all ages welcome. Repertoire of film, show, games and light popular music played in residences across the Midlands. All instruments welcome. Instrument bank, tuition and bursaries available on request. Rehearsing weekly in Birmingham and The Black Country the orchestra performs a minimum of 6-8 concerts per year, musicians have the opportunity to compose music to film and perform in a variety of unusual events across the region, including flash mobs.

This group is a fun and friendly bunch of woodwind and string players who meet weekly during term time. We enjoy rehearsing music from renaissance to jazz and everything in between. We don’t take ourselves too seriously but always aim to improve and enjoy our music making.

The Real String Orchestra is a new and friendly String Orchestra based in Stratford Upon Avon. The players are music teachers, performers, high standard adults and students from 16 and above. When we rehearse we like to have a break for cake! The aim is to give the audiences powerful performances of string classics under the baton of our professional musician Tori Rushton. Always welcoming new players to join The Real String Orchestra.

The Redditch Orchestra, started in 1947, has a full symphony orchestra make up of mainly local musicians. We play three concerts a year and invite guest conductors and professional soloists from time to time. Presently we could do with more cellists and brass players.

This is an adult learner string group, new members on all stringed instruments of a Grade 3 standard plus are welcome. The group plays a variety of styles from Baroque, Classical, and Romantic to jazz and folk. The group performs at yearly events such as Shakespeare's Birthday celebrations, CMS (Warwickshire County Music Service) concerts, and collaborates with the CMS adult winds and other groups.

St Peter's Concert Orchestra is a new initiative, we are aiming for an orchestra of a very high standard. Good sight reading is a must and ideally performers of grades 7 - 8+. The orchestra will provide music for some services throughout the year and concerts/ recitals at St Peter's Church and other venues. We are very lucky to have 2 members of the CBSO in the SPCO, a french horn and our leader/principal violin, the vast majority of the orchestra are current or former students of the Birmingham Conservatoire. Our conductor is a professional musician and composer. Currently we have vacancies for Strings, Trumpets, Trombones, Tuba and Percussion. We are an informal group of instrumentalists who simply enjoy group playing and who like helping and encouraging new players. We are mixed ability and several of our more experienced players also play with other orchestras in Worcestershire. Our Conductor is very experienced in encouraging and developing the skills of amateur musicians.

Exclusively for adult saxophonists

We're a woodwind ensemble only, currently consisting of flutes, various clarinets and saxes. We don't hold auditions but expect players to be of a reasonable standard of, say, grade 5 or so, although no formal qualifications are required or expected. Just come along and have a blow! We could particularly do with a couple more sax players (any sax) but wouldn't turn away anyone who fits in. We normally do three or four concerts a year.

This is a unique ensemble aimed specifically at enthusiasts of cello playing! Ability ranges from grade 3 to advanced and we love playing all sorts of music from baroque to Lady Gaga (yes, really!). We tackle some tricky music at times but always make sure we are enjoying ourselves and learning new things along the way. Directed by professional Cellist Joanne Jefferis

The Shirley Band is a traditional British brass band based in the town of Shirley in the Borough of Solihull. Each year we have a full programme of local concerts, and often play further afield at venues such as Cheltenham, Worcester and Stratford-upon-Avon

Founded in 1968, the orchestra plays a variety of music is played including light classical, show music, film and TV themes, traditional and modern popular numbers. Over the years the Orchestra has given both formal and informal concerts of light music in and around Shrewsbury.

We are always pleased to welcome keen, competent players of a suitable standard to the Orchestra as and when vacancies arise. Currently players of string instruments, particularly viola and double bass, would be especially welcome to the Orchestra. Vacancies for woodwind and brass occur rather less frequently, but we do need extra instruments for some works, or players to deputise for our regular members on occasions, so it is well worth getting in touch.

The Sinfonia of Birmingham is a high standard chamber orchestra giving up to 5 concerts a year in the Midlands along with an international tour every 2 years. The orchestra has a close association with members of the CBSO either as conductor or concerto soloists.

Spires Philharmonic Orchestra is a mixed professional and advanced amateur orchestra for the Midlands, with players from Coventry, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Solihull, Leicestershire and Gloucestershire. The orchestra regularly accompanies Spires Philharmonic Chorus as well as performing in its own. Vacancies currently exist in all string sections, trumpets and trombones but we welcome applications from anyone who wishes to play with us and to join our deputy/waiting list.

The Stafford Orchestra began as the English Electric Orchestra over 45 years ago. The orchestra plays a wide variety of music, and performs about 4 concerts a year in local venues. The Stafford Sinfonia is a well-established chamber orchestra performing around three concerts each year with a focus on baroque, classical and early romantic repertoire, as well as light and popular classical music. We currently have vacancies for violins, violas and double basses but welcome interest from anyone who wishes to perform with us or to join our deputy/waiting list.

A group of amateur musicians of all ages presently consisting of 50 members. We play music of all kinds, classical, film, other and give a number of concerts each year.

It was founded in 1884, and is one of the oldest choral and orchestral societies in England. The choir and orchestra meet from September to July and perform in three concerts per year. The choir and/or a small group of players is available for weddings etc.

Stratford Concert Band is an established concert band whose activities centre on the town of Stratford upon Avon, with a range of formal concerts and outdoor appearances. The band's repertoire consists of marches, light classical arrangements, familiar show and film arrangements, and original works for concert band.

We are the newest orchestra in the area and have done 4 concerts on 2016 with lots of plans for 2017. We are a light orchestra...you might even call us a pops orchestra as the music is focused on making it fun for the audience and ourselves. We will be recording at Abbey Road Studios in 2017 - and with our choir we will number 70 people in the studio!. Come and join us and have some fun - all ages are welcome and we particularly are looking for lapsed adults!! We play a few light classical pieces but mostly play some uplifting tunes. We are a large and very friendly orchestra which performs works largely from the classical repertoire from the 17th to the 20th century. Concerts are given three times per year in the Stratford Play House with guest soloists and occasional additional performances at local festivals. We also run an annual open Playday event. The orchestra is always on the lookout for new players, particularly strings and brass.

We are a new wind band recruiting brass, woodwind and percussion musicians of grade 4 standard and above.

We aim to provide a warm welcome to local wind musicians looking for a place to make music with like minded people, whilst also giving back to the community by helping other organisations raise money. We welcome players around grade 5 standard.

Founded in 1862 and playing music from the 18th to the 21st century. We are currently recruiting brass and strings players who should be Grade 5 or above. We perform three or four concerts per year.

Tenbury Teme Valley Band is a community concert band. We also have an Academy for adults and young people who are preparing to join the main band. The band has a varied programme of engagements throughout the year including Bands in the Park Concerts, concerts in local theatre, Remembrance events supporting the RBL and numerous charity events. Tenbury Town band is a community concert band. We have players of all ages and abilities. We have an apprentices band for adults and young people who do not feel ready to join the main band. The Midlands first orchestra for the global ethnic majority and their allies! We perform and celebrate the popular music from cultures around the world, while also being a safe space for you to socialise and perform. Not only will you be able to rehearse and perform in different venues, but you will also receive regular mentoring from musicians in the Underscore collective (an ensemble made up of local music teachers and professionals). We have been formed for over 8 years, we have approximately 35 members and play a very wide range of music from film to classical. We are a mix of styles from concert band to orchestra.

Players are recruited from the University and the community. The orchestra gives performances at venues off campus, very often in churches in Gloucestershire and it occasionally joins with the University choir. It is a very friendly group and anyone interested in joining the University orchestra is warmly invited to contact Ian. We do expect players to be Grade 6 standard or above.

This is a wonderful group of friendly and enthusiastic players of string and woodwind who meet to rehearse once a month and enjoy a coffee and biscuit or two! We are currently working on Haydn Symphony 82 as well as some shorter, easier repertoire.

Walsall Brass Band are a newly formed band in Walsall which is a Staffordshire/West Midlands border town, who are looking for more players to join them. Current players or players who have lapsed and wish to get back to playing again are welcome. Concerts are performed at the centre on a regular basis, usually the first Thursday of every other month, from 2 to 4pm. The cost is £2 per person. We are currently seeking violin players and a bassoon player.

Warwick Community Band provide a platform for members of the public to work and come together in one intergenerational activity. The members can be of any musical standard, no auditions will take place. The ethos of the band is for its membership to meet together play and enjoy music, and to be able to give public performances. The band are non competitive, (competition involves hours of practice, and often excludes the weaker players.) The band play popular instantly recognised music that will be entertaining to the majority audience.

Warwick Orchestral Winds was formed in 1992. The band draws its members from all over the Midlands, giving concerts in the Warwick and Leamington Spa area. The ensemble has a deserved reputation for programming less well known works together with more traditional and well known classics from the Symphonic Wind repertoire.

We play mainly 18th century music in historically informed style. Most string players have baroque bows, and many use gut strings. Wind and brass have copies of historic instruments. We generally put on three concerts a year around Warwickshire.

Formed in 1988, the Band of West Mercia Police has established an impeccable reputation both for musical performance and work within the community. The band takes part in contests and also has a good concert schedule each year and has its 25th anniversary concert planned for 2013. We are a group of about 50 musicians who have a common interest in playing and performing music. We perform at many venues such as fêtes, concert halls, church, band stands etc.

We are always looking out for new talented musicians. We are a very busy organisation with over 30 engagements each year and aim to have sufficient additional players to ensure that each section is represented on all occasions. we are a non-contesting Brass band based on the north shropshire/south cheshire/north wales borders. We are more than happy to see visitors, so do feel free to pop along for a blow if you are in the area.

We are a non-contesting band based at St Michaels Church Hall, Wolverhampton. Our standard is equivalent to a section 3 Brass Band. We rehearse during school term times and perform concerts locally including the Ironbridge Brass Band Festival. We are very well sponsored. The standard of players ranges from grade 5 to members who play in other top bands throughout the Midlands. Formed in 1973 by a group of keen amateur players to satisfy a need for local players to prepare to as high a standard as possible interesting works for public performance.

We are a group of amateur musicians who meet in Bromsgrove (map) to play traditional English, American, Irish and Scottish dance music. The main purpose of the group is simply to enjoy the music (and each other's company); occasionally we get invited by other organisations to entertain them with background music, or to run a barn dance or ceilidh for them.

Formed in 1905, WSO is a large Symphony Orchestra, which draws keen amateur players from across Worcestershire to perform 4 concerts a year. Under its conductor, Keith Slade, WSO is developing a new challenging repertoire with internationally acclaimed soloists. A warm welcome awaits new players - particularly lower string players (cellos and basses) of at least grade 8 standard.

New players are always welcome. There are currently some vacancies in the strings. Players should be a good grade 7 and be prepared to attend weekly rehearsals. Concerts 3 times per year, March, July and December in Kidderminster Town Hall.
